Content management systems are a fantastic way to organize a site which has information and give it a custom style. In the web world, a content management system is basically a filing cabinet. This system organizes your material and when someone searches out that info, it pulls it right up. The fantastic part about these systems is that they are entirely customizable. Not only can they be a unique design, but there are numerous ways to customize the content holders. These systems usually work from 3 main parts: sections, categories and articles. Picture the section as the file drawer that holds everything. The category is the individual folder inside those drawers. Then, the articles are the individual pieces of paper inside the folder. If you have a plethora of information you would like to give your audience, then these systems are the way to go. We will set up this system, enter the articles/information and give you a custom-design the style. After the initial setup is done, we show you how to change the information around yourself. This way, if you want to change a recipe, give an update on your home page, offer decoration how-tos only during holiday time, then you can do this yourself. While we would love for you to call us with updates all the time, we understand that it is just not practical. We train you on this system so you can be in charge of the information you're including on your site. When it comes time for a design change or overhaul, etc, we will be happy to help. One example is SpiffyMoms.com. This site was designed using a custom template in a content management system. All the articles, recipes and information pieces are stored in a database on the server. When keywords are searched, the system provides all articles that link to these keywords. A bonus for this website is that they also offer contests (using php code for registrations), custom blogs for the administrators (using Wordpress) and forum software (vBulletin). Central to this site's administrators was that all parts of the sites were cohesive and matched. The custom template that was used in the content management system was then adapted and used in the other parts of the site. |
